First Reformed Weekly - 1/22/2017

Good afternoon everyone!

During today's worship service, Pastor Christopher continued his series, "Leadership Sundays". Today's message was "Leadership Sunday ~ Many Members, One Mission". We hope you watch the worship service when it is posted on YouTube.

Pastor Christopher offers a weekly video message entitled "Christopher's Chat" to summarize the sermon series. CLICK HERE to watch this week's episode of Christopher's Chat.

New Members Session

If you are interested in joining the First Reformed Church, please attend the following Tuesday sessions: January 31st and February 7th. All sessions will be held at 7pm and will meet in the back of the Sanctuary. Please contact us for more information.

The Consistory has elected the following officers for 2017:

  • Evelyn Leseberg ~ Vice President

  • Julie Kooistra - Clerk

  • Robert Troyano - Treasurer

  • Donna Arnone - Financial Secretary*

**Donna Arnone is replacing Howard Van Wyk, who has faithfully served as Financial Secretary for many years. He will be formally thanked at a worship service in the near future.

Statements of Giving

The 2016 individual Financial Statements of Giving are available on the table in the back of the sanctuary. You can pick up yours anytime.

Annual Congregational Meeting and Informational Meeting

We will again have an informational meeting regarding the 2017 budget prior to the Congregational Meeting. The informational meeting is planned for tomorrow (January 23rd) in the Clements Room (conference room) at 7pm. All Committee Chairs will be present to answer any questions you may have. Budget sheets will be available next Sunday for you to take home and look over. The Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 5th immediately following the worship service.

Envelope of the Month - January 2017

The Envelope of the Month is your blue 1st Quarter Assessment envelope. Our assessment for 2017 is $86 per person ($21 quarterly). As a reminder, the assessment is a fee we must pay to the RCA Classis each year. Any assessment money owed to Classis that is not collected in the blue envelopes must then be drawn from the general fund. Please see any Consistory member with any questions.

After solid research, thanks to Ross Palino and Frank Arnone, the Consistory approved the purchase of a new printer for the church's many publishing needs. The cost is $3,600 - which includes a full two-year maintenance agreement and was an excellent price for the machine needed. Members are welcome to make monetary contributions to offset the costs. In addition, going forward, Ross Palino, who has just concluded his term as deacon and will be formally thanked at a near future worship service, will serve as our printing coordinator. He will be responsible for paper, toner, and other supplies. Please see him regarding the supply and/or purchase of anything related to printing as well as any questions.

Ongoing Clothing Drive Bagged or boxed donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, curtains and towels may be left outside Pastor's garage doors anytime.
