First Reformed Weekly ~ 5/21/2017 (Children's Day)

Good afternoon everyone! Today was our annual Children's Day celebration, which marks the end of the Sunday School year. We had a total of 90 students and adults in attendance for the service. Many students participated in worship this morning. Also, the students received their certificates of completions for their respective grades.

The confirmation class, taught by Evelyn Leseberg, presented artwork for the Van Wyk Fellowship Hall. They did an amazing job in their presentation. The artwork is displayed below.

Pastor Christopher's message, "Wholehearted", based on Deuteronomy 6:4-7, discussed an important commandment of passing your faith on your children. We hope you take the time to watch the service on YouTube when it is uploaded later tonight.

Following the service, there was a luncheon downstairs in the Van Wyk Fellowship Hall. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served along with other goodies. We thank the Fellowship Committee for their hard work and dedication in making this year's luncheon a success.

Finally, we would like to thank Paintbrush Studio of Maywood for facilitating a painting lesson. The students painted a picture with a cross, as seen below:

Christopher's Chat

There will be NO new episode of Christopher's Chat. Check in next week for a special Memorial Day edition of Christopher's Chat!

During worship today, we awarded scholarships to three graduating high school seniors - Ryan Cali, Melanie Valenti and Brian Wolf. We would like to congratulate them on their major milestone and wish them well in their future endeavors in their educations and faith journeys.

Saddle Brook Memorial Day Parade Water Station

As mentioned last week, we will NOT be marching in this year's parade. However, we will still operate our water station during the parade. Donations of gallon jugs of water, bags of ice and cups are needed for the church's water station. If anyone has a cooler(s) that may be borrowed for next Sunday, that would be appreciated as well.
