First Reformed Weekly ~ 7/2/2017 (Fourth Sunday After Pentecost)

Good afternoon everyone! We would like to wish everyone a happy and blessed Fourth of July holiday. During this holiday weekend, please remember to pray and give thanks to all those who have served or are serving in our armed forces to protect our freedoms.

Pastor Christopher began a new series, "The Gospel Truth". Today, it's so hard to discern what is true and false - in the media, often in our own lives. But The Gospel contains the Truth and truth for daily life and faith. During this series, we are exploring the power of God's truth - to free us, to enlighten us, to save us.

We hope you take the time to watch our worship service when it is posted on YouTube. In the meantime, please take some time to listen to a special Fourth of July edition of Christopher's Chat.

Music Ministry Update

Following worship last Sunday, June 18th, our organist and music director, Susan Redvanly, informed us that she will be moving on from her ministry here. Her final Sunday will be August 13th. In her letter, Susan said that it was not an easy decision and that it has been her pleasure to serve the Lord through music here. On behalf of the Consistory and congregation, we sincerely thank Susan for her leadership and musical offerings over the past seven years. She has truly blessed many people. To acknowledge her ministry and express our gratitude, we will be having a luncheon on Sunday, August 13th immediately following worship. Please be assured that the Worship Committee and the Consistory are already discussing this transition and will be working to seek a replacement.

Opportunities to Serve

An updated committee listing describing each committee, as well as the names of the chairpersons and members of each, is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway to the left of the upstairs kitchen. We, as a community of believers, are called to serve God's church here at First Reformed. Please search your heart to see where the Holy Spirit guides you.

"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." ~1 Peter 4:10 New Living Translation.
