First Reformed Weekly ~ 9/17/2017 (National Back to Church Sunday)

Good afternoon everyone! Today, we participated in National Back to Church Sunday. Back to Church Sunday is a yearly outreach effort that started in 2009 to encourage churches to welcome family, friends and neighbors back to church. We welcomed new visitors during worship.

Pastor Christopher also continued his series, "Servanthood". Today's message was entitled "An Example to Follow", based on John 13:1-20. It is important to serve others to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

Please listen to this week's episode of Christopher's Chat for a recap on this message:

Church Roof

As you know, we have been working on getting the roof repaired. The Consistory has awarded a bid for this project, and work should begin sometime in October. This work will not interrupt any church activities.

Hurricane Response

We are collecting a special offering each Sunday of September. The proceeds will be sent through our denomination (Reformed Church in America) and their mission/relief fund, which will provide direct funds to people devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Houston. We are also collecting and sending items such as: Diapers, baby formula, powder, wipes, and more.

Coffee Hour

Please check the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the upstairs kitchen for Sundays that remain open to host.

Ongoing Clothing Drive We continue to accept bagged or boxed donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, curtains and towels. All donations may be left outside Pastor Christopher's garage doors in the Ackerman Avenue parking lot anytime.
