First Reformed Weekly ~ 10/22/2017 (Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost)

Good afternoon everyone! Today, Pastor Christopher continued his sermon series, "Passing the Torch of Faith". This new series is a call to action for us as a congregation to intentionally share our faith with one another and with young people and children. Today's message was about imitating good things, as discussed by Paul in Philippi.

You may learn more about that by watching this week's Christopher's Chat below or by watching our worship service tomorrow, when it is uploaded on YouTube.

Church Roof Update

The church roof was replaced this week. It was completed this week between Monday and Thursday. This roof is expected to provide 20-30 years of solid protection. We praise and thank God for providing a roof over our heads to worship Christ our Lord.

Operation Christmas Child

National Collection Week is November 13th-20th this year! Remember how much fun we had at the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox packing party last year? It's that time again!! The packing party is scheduled for Sunday, November 12th at 3pm in the Van Wyk Fellowship Hall. We are in need of lots of empty shoe bcxes (we prefer the ones with separate lids, but we will take any you have!), Christmas wrap, scotch tape, and LARGE rubber bands. We will also be collecting items to fill the boxes including school and hygiene supplies, small toys, stuffed animals, coloring books, puzzles, etc. This year, we are unable to accept donations of toothpaste and candy, as both items delay the customs process. All items MUST be new. Please pick up a shoe box item checklist on the rear table in the Sanctuary, or CLICK HERE to view more information here. CLICK HERE to reply to our Facebook event. If you have any questions, please contact Lynne Wojcik.

There will also be an Operation Christmas Child team meeting on Thursday, October 26th at 6:30pm here at the church.

Envelope of the Month

The envelope of the month is your blue 4th quarter Assessment envelope. As a reminder, our Classis assessment is $86 per person for the year ($21.50 quarterly). As we promised to keep you advised of our financial situation, we should let you know that we are behind on our assessment income. If you have any questions, please see any Consistory member or Pastor Christopher.

Coffee Hour

Please check the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the upstairs kitchen for Sundays that remain open to host.

Ongoing Clothing Drive We continue to accept bagged or boxed donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, curtains and towels. All donations may be left outside Pastor Christopher's garage doors in the Ackerman Avenue parking lot anytime.
