This Week at First Reformed ~ 11/26/2017

Good afternoon everyone! This is the day that the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Also, we thank all those who came out to decorate the church for Advent and Christmas yesterday.

Also, we are thankful for all those who were able to join us for our Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday. Jim Gilbert began as our Worship Leader/Choir Director. Pastor Christopher's message on Thanksgiving Eve was "Good Things", was about how God graciously provides satisfaction in our lives - and when we stop think about it - we are overwhelmed with gratitude. CLICK HERE to watch this year's Thanksgiving Eve service.

Today's message was "True Abundance". In our economy, we think that saving and keeping is the way to abundance. Paul reminds us in this Scripture, that in the Kingdom economy, the way to abundance is giving - giving of ourselves, our gifts, our love and service. Then the blessings overflow!

Christopher's Chat, Pastor Christopher's weekly messages, discusses this true abundance:

Consistory Nominations

At the Annual Fall Congregational Meeting held on Sunday, November 5th, the following members were elected to serve as Elder: Giovanna Sandstrom and Catherine Wasdyke. As per the RCA Book of Church Order, their names will be printed in the bulletin and posted in our weekly announcements for three consecutive weeks. During this time, if you have any valid reservations about her nomination, please contact Pastor Christopher.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir will begin rehearsing on Thursday nights at 7:30pm starting this Thursday, November 30th. For more information about the choir, and to read Jim Gilbert's bio, CLICK HERE.

Sunday School Christmas Play/Vesper's Dinner

The Sunday School Christmas Play and Vesper's Dinner will be held on Sunday, December 10th at 4pm. A sign up sheet is posted on the hallway bulletin board. You may also CLICK HERE to sign up online. We are in need of desserts.

Church Directory

A new directory is being planned for the year of 2018. The current directory information is displayed on the bulletin board by the Ackerman Avenue entrance. Please check your information and that of family members to make sure all is correct. Please make any changes, additions or deletions as necessary. If your information is missing, please add your name to the listing. We appreciate your help in creating an up-to-date directory.

Christmas Poinsettias and Book of Remembrance

Christmas Poinsettias will be placed in the Sanctuary for Christmas Services. You may pick up your plant(s) after the Christmas Eve service on December 24th. Book of Remembrance forms and donations must be received by Sunday, December 17th. CLICK HERE to download/print a form and/or to view information.

2018 Flower Chart

The 2018 flower chart is on the bulletin board located by the upstairs kitchen. The flower cost is $20.00, and you are invited to take the flowers home after service. This is a wonderful way to honor someone who has passed or celebrate a special person or occasion. Please sign up to reserve the date(s) of your choice.

Coffee Hour

Please check the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the upstairs kitchen, and sign up if you are able to host coffee hour.

Ongoing Clothing Drive We continue to accept bagged or boxed donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, curtains and towels. All donations may be left outside Pastor Christopher's garage doors in the Ackerman Avenue parking lot anytime.
