This Week at First Reformed ~ 12/17/2017

Good afternoon everyone! This is the day that the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Today is the Third Sunday of Advent. Today, we lit two candles on the Advent wreath. The first candle is the candle of expectation and hope. Our hope is based on the trust that God's wondrous promises have been and will continue to be fulfilled. The second candle is the candle of peace. It reminds us that Christ's coming and promise of return are the true sources of peace. The third candle is the candle of joy. It reminds us that our joy is made complete in Christ alone!

Today's message was "The Joy of Good News". In a time of bad news, we are reminded this week that the promised arrival and return of Jesus is "good news" and cause for rejoicing for the hurting in this world. And, as a church, we must share this joy with people around us. In any circumstances we can point to Jesus as the source of joy - lasting, eternal joy!

Christopher's Chat, Pastor Christopher's weekly messages, discusses this source of Joy.
