This Week at First Reformed ~ 1/14/2018

Good afternoon everyone! This is the day that the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

This week, Rev. Christopher Wolf started a new sermon series about the meaning of church. For some, church=judgment, church=perfection, church=hypocrisy. This week's message was "Church=Praise".Christopher's Chat, Pastor Christopher's weekly message, discusses this message.

During today's service, we installed and ordained Giovanna Sandstrom and Catherine Wasdyke as Elders.

We congratulate them all and celebrate this installation of our Sisters in Christ. We pray that they will minister to many.

We are sad to say that one of our members, Dom Pallottie, will not be with us for the next several months. He will begin training for the New Jersey National Guard as a Military Police Officer at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. We did a special prayer for him during the service. Also, Rich Shanahan will be deployed to Qatar for the next nine months. We give thanks for the services of both Dom and Rich to our nation.

Birthday and Anniversary Lists

We are updating our birthday and anniversary lists. Please check out your information on the bulletin board and make any changes/additions/deletions. Thank you.

Vacation Bible School

Now that a new year is upon us, it is time to begin planning for this year's VBS. The first VBS meeting is scheduled for this Friday, January 19th at 7pm in the Clements' Room. In order to have a successful VBS, we need your help. Anyone who is interested in being a leader or volunteer is more than welcome to attend. If you feel led to serve as a leader or volunteer in this year's VBS, please sign up on the hallway bulletin board or online by clicking HERE to visit our VBS page. If you have any questions, please see Thomas Van Winkle.

Envelope of the Month

The envelope of the month is your blue Assessment envelope. Our assessment for 2018 is $84.50 per person. As a reminder, the assessment is a fee we must pay to the RCA Classis each year. Any assessment money owed to Classis that is not collected in the blue envelopes must then be drawn from the general fund. Please see any Consistory member with questions.

Coffee Hour

Please check the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the upstairs kitchen, and sign up if you are able to host coffee hour.

Ongoing Clothing Drive We continue to accept bagged or boxed donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, curtains and towels. All donations may be left outside Pastor Christopher's garage doors in the Ackerman Avenue parking lot anytime.
