SADDLE BROOK - 2019 was a difficult, painful, dark year for so many in our congregation and community. And yet, while acknowledging all that happened, Pastor Christopher and The Consistory believe God is calling us to a year of healing in 2020.
This calling is guided by the following verses:
"Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise." ~Jeremiah 17:14
"When the crowds heard about it, they followed Him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about the Kingdom of God, and healed those who needed it." ~Luke 9:11
As followers of Christ, we are called to bring hope to despair, to heal the brokenhearted and to bring light to the darkness. Within the congregation and community, we will be messengers and bearers of God's healing throughout 2020. Here in our sanctuary and in the community, people need healing and wholeness in the face of sin, sickness, relationships, fear, guilt, grief, anger, the past, and more. As urgent and important as this is, it will not be easy.
As you know, healing requires faith, truth and a complete reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit. This 2020 calling and mission will stretch and grow us. At times, it will hurt. It will also move us out of comfort zones - but the promises of healing in Christ will all be worth it. We will be instruments of, and witnesses to, God's glory, power and peace.
The kick-off for 2020 - The Year of Healing will be Sunday, January 19th at 10:30am First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook, NJ, during which we will praise God, speak of the Kingdom and Pastor Christopher and the Elders will welcome anyone forward to be anointed with oil (from Jerusalem) and be prayed over. Please join in prayer and support for this blessed calling and mission.
