Updated: Oct 12, 2019
Good afternoon everyone! This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Today, Rev. Christopher Wolf continued his series, "The Power Of....". Today's message was about the power of Grace based on 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.
Special thank you to Ellen MacLeay for filling in as guest pianist/organist while Jim Gilbert is off this week.
OTHER CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our website will be temporarily down for reconstruction. We hope you will check back here for further updates.
Pastor Christopher on Break
Pastor Christopher will be off from August 26th to September 2nd. Chaplain John Bosch of the Holland Christian Home will be with us on September 1st.
Pastor Sabbatical Holy Land Trip
The Consistory is pleased to announce that it has approved Pastor Christopher taking a sabbatical trip to Israel (including all the holy sites) from October 28th to November 8th. The idea for this trip originated with John Plog, who had a dream and desire to thank Pastor for his eight plus years of service here. While it was a surprise to Pastor Christopher, it was a very clearly answered prayer from God. The Consistory is encouraging and welcoming members and friends of the church to also say thank you by donating to help pay for the trip, which is approximately $4,500. Checks can be made payable to First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook (please note Pastor Israel Trip in the memo). And, as Pastor Christopher's ministry has led us to connect and care for the community, the vision for the trip is that it also engages the community. Residents and organizations from Saddle Brook will also be invited to support the trip. Finally, the church and community will be invited to participate in prayer, a send-off/blessing event, as well as a Thanksgiving service upon his return. We know this will be a life-changing event for Pastor Christopher. Through his sharing, it will inspire the congregation and community.
There will be a short meeting downstairs after the August 25th worship service at 11:45am. Bring your snack and beverage. We will discuss the choir schedule for the 2019-2020 season.
New Member Class Forming
Are you interested in learning about becoming a member of the First Reformed Church? Please let Pastor Christopher know you are interested in attending a new members' class. The class is a three-session, no obligation series of discussions that discuss faith journeys, theology and the mission and vision here. At the end of the sessions, participants are welcome to meet with the Elders to join the church. The sessions will be held on the following Tuesdays - September 10th, September 17th, and September 24th at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary.
Prayer Cloth Ministry
Have you have placed someone on the prayer list and would like to have a prayer cloth for them? Please contact Kathy Alia or Winnie Caputo. Prayer cloths are also available for special occasions such as baptisms, graduations, confirmations, births, marriages and special anniversaries.
